Field Visit to Bhasan Char

As part of its ongoing research project titled “Legal Aspects of Higher Education Access and Livelihood through Income-Generating Activities for the Rohingyas in Bangladesh,” a team of Directors and Executive Members of BCRLS conducted a field visit to Bhasan Char.
The visit aimed to gather first-hand insights and empirical data on the legal and practical challenges surrounding education access and livelihood opportunities for Rohingya refugees. This field engagement formed a crucial component of BCRLS’s commitment to evidence-based research and policy-oriented analysis.
BCRLS extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Rakiba Nabi for her invaluable support and guidance in facilitating this visit. We are also thankful to the officials of the RRRC, Cox’s Bazar, and the Bangladesh Navy for their cooperation and assistance.

Seminar on Foundations of Refugee Law

The Bangladesh Center for Refugee Law Studies (BCRLS), in collaboration with the Department of Law and Land Administration, Jagannath University, successfully hosted an academic seminar titled “Foundations of Refugee Law: Principles, Protection, and Contemporary Challenges.”
The seminar featured Sakhawat Sajjat Sejan as the Speaker, who delivered an insightful discussion on the core principles of refugee law, evolving protection frameworks, and contemporary challenges in the field. The session was further enriched by the presence of Honourable Christine Richardson as Chief Guest, whose remarks highlighted the global importance of refugee protection and legal responsibility.
We were also honored by the participation of Meftahul Hasan (Assistant Professor, Department of Law, Jagannath University) as Special Guest, who contributed to the academic depth and engagement of the seminar.
The program brought together students, researchers, and participants who actively engaged in discussions, making the session both interactive and impactful. The seminar served as an important platform for advancing awareness and academic dialogue on refugee law in Bangladesh.
